A Westbank Lunar New Year @ Oakridge

On a gloomy and rainy Vancouver night, the luxury residential and mixed use real estate development company Westbank hosted a big and festive Lunar New Year Party at their very own Oakridge Mall on Cambie and 41st. And when I say big, I mean enormous! The party included every inch of the entire mall including all the shops, restaurants and walkways with anyone and everyone invited to join in the festivities!

Parking was a bit of a nightmare as nearby construction and the weather made navigating into Oakridge a bit of a maze. Why all the construction around the mall?  Simply, Westbank is completely re-imaging the entire neighbourhood with their new development of grand, luxury towers. This development is a truly bold and ambitious venture which is literally banking on the Asian market to fall in love with a new (for this community at least) way of living.

There were red envelopes handed out to all (with a complimentary food entree ticket and spending discounts). All the ceilings were strung with red lanterns and the floors were spotted everywhere with exotic cars like Mercedes and Bentleys. Music blasted from the various performances around Oakridge. From Chinese acrobats to a band playing pop music (I’m pretty sure that was a Madonna 80’s tune!) to Classical piano skillfully played by a boy no more than 9, the whole venue was a treat for all your senses! There were a couple of bright yellow dragons accompanied by a large rolling drum dancing through the crowd!

Along with the red envelope gift, door prizes which included a new iPhone 11, a shopping spree and a Mercedes car lease were handed out throughout the night. And this wouldn’t be a New Year’s party without a whole lot of food! Just some of the eating highlights were the seasoned octopus tentacles and the steamed dumplings. You can’t get more authentic than this.

Of course the main highlight was the Westbank display and sales center. The new development encompassing the entire Oakridge area, shows a completely futuristic vision that is going to energize the neighbourhood. With over 2,000 homes and 6,000 residents, the development will become like a micro city unto itself. Westbank incorporated a multitude of world class features such as high-end shopping, fine dining, and cultural experiences. The easy Canada Line commuting will definitely make this a destination for those who are unlucky not to be able to live here themselves.

From the Westbank website:

An urban enclave defined in equal terms by its landscape and its people; organized around a nearly 10-acre park with elegant towers extruded organically from the landscape; supporting a quality of life that draws on a past steeped in raw natural beauty to represent a future of social, environmental and cultural abundance. Its organic architecture and comprehensive infrastructure will support an intuitive and serendipitous way of life that evolves constantly, naturally and flexibly. Our vision of Oakridge is a testament to the ability of man and nature to coexist.

A place for life to unfold.
